School-Based Heath Centers

The three health centers, located at Windham High School, Windham Middle School and Barrows, utilize a coordinated care approach with each center staffed with a nurse practitioner and a clinical social worker or licensed marriage and family therapist with a direct line to the hospital if necessary.

Ebola Preparedness

EbolaWindham875aAs the Ebola epidemic was tearing through east Africa and the first cases were diagnosed in the United States, Windham Hospital staff partnered with Backus and other HHC affiliates to prepare for the disease. Windham’s preparedness team took part in daily, regional and system-wide briefings and training sessions. In October, the hospital participated in a real time drill with a patient presenting in the emergency department and staff identifying the possibility of the disease, quarantining the patient, and coordinating a transfer to Hartford Hospital.
