StaffDev_H3WWindham Hospital is keenly attuned to the health care needs of the community allowing us to address the most pressing health care needs and give the people of Eastern Connecticut the best and most technologically advanced care where and when they need it. Whether it’s 7-day-a-week urgent care services or creating innovative programs to fight obesity, diabetes and heart disease, Windham Hospital is connected to the community, creating sustainable programs and initiatives that will improve the health of our neighbors for generations to come.

Creation of the East Region

Windham and Backus hospitals have created the first Hartford HealthCare regional system of care. We are rapidly moving towards a fully integrated, high value regional delivery system to improve access, quality, coordination and cost of health care. Our results have been impressive: data shows Windham has improved its quality and lowered its cost structure.

Building on Success 4Strategic Plan

Broadly speaking, the East Region plan includes a focus on primary and ambulatory services, surgical services, oncology services, orthopedic services, cardiovascular services and a preventive medicine program.

Staff Development

The H3W (How Hartford HealthCare Works) leadership development program seeks to drive employee engagement and innovation through the teaching of leadership behaviors and the formation of staff work groups. We now have approximately 37 work groups at Windham that meet monthly, providing the framework for frontline staff to generate ideas and participate in the implementation of these ideas – all of which focus on the patient.
